The month of December 1994 is a conclusion of an incredible year, and yet a new beginning that the Mayas understand as even deeper and more profound than we have yet to experience. Mayan sacred text states "The reincarnated teachers of the new age of Aquarius implore for the sacred human race to awaken, so that in this way it can fulfill its sacred destiny, which is to be the true sons and daughters of the cosmic light." This is the call for the light workers to reunite and harmonize the Earth, to bridge the gaps between the continents, religions, cultures, and races for all ages, for all time. It is time to sing our dreams into reality and live our true solar destiny.

By the use of ancient calendar cycles, the Mayas understand that the spring equinox of 1995 is the completion of a Mayan prophesy that marks the end of two cycles of K'altun (two cycles of 260 years), bringing us to the time when ancient and hidden knowledge is to be reawakened. The Maya understand it is the end of the "age of belief" into "the age of knowledge." The Itza Age, The Age of Aquarius. We will no longer be veiled by illusion.

Hunbatz Men, a Mayan Shaman and Daykeeper, asked me to share this ancient prophesy. He said this information is for everyone, not just the Maya! He said being Mayan is something that is in the heart and spirit, not just created by the color of the skin. This sacred prophesy is a call for the lightworkers of the Earth Garden to reunite and harmonize the Earth, to bridge the gaps between the continents, religions, cultures, and races for all ages, for all time. It is time to sing our heart song and begin to live our true solar destiny.

The Path of the Sun and Mayan Prophesy

It is common knowledge that the sun travels 182 days to the north and returns 182 days to the south again every Earth year. This is the season or cycle of the solstices. At the midpoint of this season/cycle is another cycle of the east and west called the Equinoxes. On the Equinox, the sun crosses at a center point of all 4 seasons making exact 90 degrees angles directly on top of the pyramid of Kukulkan in the sacred site of Chichan Itza. This creates the phenomenon known worldwide of a shadow of a serpent. This shadow contains 7 triangles that represents the awakening of our seven centers of the physical body and illustrates our connection with the Pleiades. This event happens every equinox, but it is in the year 1995 that the reawakening of the cosmic human is activated. This is clearly stated in the paraphrased sacred Mayan prophesies below.

Paraphrased From a Sacred Mayan Text.

"In the year 1475, before the arrival of the Spanish, The Supreme Maya Council revealed that a calendar cycle of twice the KÆaltun of 260 years had to go by in order for the Maya Solar Culture to flourish again for the benefit of mankind... In the spring of 1995, this 520 year period will be completed, bringing to an end the cycle of darkness brought by the Spaniards to the land of the Sun. ...1995 is a decisive year and the sacred human race will have to enter the path of cosmic light if it is to remain a thinking species... The human race will have to seek the path of initiation on Earth and in Heaven... Through Solar Initiation they will be able to see the luminosity of the great spirit... through Solar Initiation, the sleeping body of mankind can be awakened... Hunab KÆu (God in Mayan) will flash like lightning that will pierce through the shadows that envelop the human race. Let us prepare to receive the light of knowledge that comes from Hunab KÆu and transcend into the memory of the creator and become beings of eternal luminosity.

The Mayas understand this auspicious event as an initiation into cosmic consciousness that will reawaken humanity into the Age of Knowledge. By the use of the magnetic grid that covers planet earth, the solar ceremonies in Chichan Itza will create a unifying intent to activate humanity into Galactic citizenship. This will be done by harmonizing the earth and its peoples thus initiating the healing process for the entire planet and humanity as we enter the age of knowledge and peace. We will begin to remember the ancient knowledge of the cosmos.

For those of you who can't join us in physical form, you have the opportunity to join this event in spirit. Hunbatz Men and the Mayan council ask humanity to unite in prayer at sunrise on the morning of March 21, 1995 with the understanding that we are all connected and live in the same house, the house of Mother Earth. They ask you to send the energy of the Father SUN into Mother EARTH, giving her essential energy for healing. You may also send letters of inspiration, prayer, and devotion to: The Center for Mayan Studies APDO 7-014 Merida, 7 Yuc. Mexico. These letters will be anchored in a sacred site during this ceremony.

The Solar Meditation / Ceremony

The Mayas had an intimate relationship with the sun. They knew that the information/energy we require to live comes from the Sun. They understand that the sun can heal our physical and emotional illness. In these times where humanity receives so much of its information and energy from sources other than the sun, it is essential at this time that we begin to remember how to use the sun once again. For those who wish to receive solar initiation as the Mayans have for thousands of years, you first must reconnect with the Sun. It is a simple process and all that is needed is your hearts intention to begin to receive life sustaining energy / light / information directly from the sun once again. Below is a simple solar ceremony you can begin RIGHT NOW, and perform in unison with others from around the world during this coming spring equinox. Everyone is encouraged to initiate solar meditations and related events in the areas where they live.

Here is a simple solar ceremony you can do during this important event:

Face the rising Sun and begin to meditate. With respect, ask Hunab K'u (God in Mayan) for permission to reenter his memory. Ask to be reawakened to the ancient knowledge of the cosmos. As the SUN begins to rise look directly at the SUN. Please use discretion here. Just one second of pure sun light directly in the eyes is enough. Then close your eyes and begin to say the name of the SUN in the Mayan language (K'IN) and catch your spirit in your hands by holding your hands out in front of your face as if you were holding a sphere. Just as Om-m-m is the name of the Earth, K'IN is the name of the SUN. It sounds like, "K'ieeeeeennn" with a distinct E sound. You may need to practice this a little while to get the habit of it. When you do this properly you will hear the sound of the Sun in you ears and in your head.

Say K'IN, K'INN, K'INNN, K'INNNN.

Say K'IN 7 times into your hands for your body, K'IN 7 times for your spirit, and K'IN 7 times for the awakening of the cosmic human. You can actually feel the energy of your spirit in your hands! Feel the vibration in your hands. Hear the sound of the SUN in your heart. Now place the blessings of your spirit on the Earth by bending down and placing your palms flat upon the Earth. Allow your spirit to enter the Earth and send your blessings and intentions to walk on earth in a way that will awaken yourself and others into rightful living once again.

A Mayan blessing to you for coming the new year:

XATA ZAC XATA AMAC
("Only may there be peace in your presence")

THE TALE OF OUR PILGRIMAGE TO THE SOUTH
by Steven McFadden
(c)- 1995 The Wisdom Conservancy

"We love you very much, and we appreciate the love that you have shown to us. We ourselves are just now reawakening to all this information about our sacred traditions and places, and we are understanding more from what you have been saying and doing. It's important to us. Thank you very much."

- Juliana Tepec, Mayan Grandmother

Twenty-five members and associates of The Wisdom Conservancy traveled far to the south in March of this year to participate in ceremonies on Mexico's Yucatan peninsula with Mayan and Tibetan elders. The pilgrimage came about as the result of a call for unity from elders of the Maya nation, whose ancient texts and calendars identified March 21, 1995 as a critical opportunity to strive through ceremony to bridge the gaps between the continents, religions, cultures, and races. They asked people of good heart to take a stand for unity on this date, and to strive to awaken to fulfill their sacred destiny: "to stand in peace as true sons and daughters of the Cosmic Light."

In addition to the 25 pilgrims from The Wisdom Conservancy, well over 1,500 people joined in the ceremonies at the spectacular Pyramid of Ku'Kulkan in Chichen Itza, and at other temple sites including Dzibichaltun, Uxmal, and Palenque. Thanks to the global reach of the Internet, many thousands of people around the world were also informed of this opportunity, and awoke early on the morning of March 21 to greet the sunrise in prayer circles of support. As calls and cards to TWC indicate, this combined effort apparently had a profound effect on many people.

An Age of Knowledge

By the use of their ancient calendar cycles -- widely recognized as more sophisticated and accurate than the Gregorian calendars now used by the Western world -- the Maya understood that the 1995 Vernal Equinox, marked the completion of teachings that they have held and passed on for many generations.

In the year 1475, before the arrival of the Europeans, The Supreme Maya Council revealed the long-held teaching of an ancient Solar Grandmother named X'Nuuk'K'in that a calendar cycle of twice the Kal'Tun calendar of 260 years had to go by in order for the Solar Culture to flourish again for the benefit of all humanity. In the spring of 1995, this 520-year period reached completion. Thus, the long-held teaching advises, the human race will have to enter upon an awakened spiritual path if it is to remain a thinking species. The Maya said they understand 1995 as the end of the "age of belief" and the start of "the age of knowledge."

Some observers expressed reservations about this gathering, because, it seemed to smack of what was termed "New Age-ism in the extreme." Perhaps,in some respects, that is an accurate characterization of the gathering, especially since our Mayan hosts spoke often of "The New Itza Age" designated by their calendars, suggesting that we are now in a time of transition leading to this "age" in the year 2012. Certainly the hundreds of people who gathered for these ceremonies represented all the continents, and many of the world's religions. Their skins were white, yellow, brown, black, and red. The pilgrims in Chichen Itza sacrificed their time and money to make the journey, and they gathered to pray for "peace, unity, and awakening." We heard prayers and sacred songs in Russian, French, Mayan, Japanese, English, Tibetan, Spanish, Lakota, Belgian, Nigerian, and a host of other languages. People looked different, and had to accommodate differences in appearance and custom. But people got along and they brought their minds and hearts together. If that's New Age, so be it. It could also be said, perhaps in a more edifying context, that the Mayan Solar Pilgrimage of 1995 was a group of human beings doing something that they deeply felt needed to be done.

The ceremonies themselves were very powerful, though that is hard to describe, as anyone who has participated in ceremony will understand. I will make no effort to characterize them, beyond stating that many people were touched, uplifted, and confirmed in their dedication to help reunite the Sacred Hoop.

A General Tone of Reverence

In general, the hundreds pilgrims from all over the world were neither unmindful nor unsympathetic to the larger plight of the Maya in Guatemala and Mexico, and many discussions were held on these situations, and support (moral and financial) was generously offered to various peaceful efforts to bring about social, economic, and environmental justice. But the main thing offered was respect -- not just for the spiritual mysteries being revealed, but also for the Maya as fellow human beings. The gestures and deeds of respect were deeply meaningful to our indigenous hosts, as they made plain in their formal and informal remarks.

The council we met with and joined in ceremony was comprised of elders from the village of Mayaon, located near Chichen Itza. The approximately 10 elders represented their village of about 70 people, who are direct descendants of the people and families who built the temples and pyramids in that region. The Maya elders stood in ceremony with three Tibetan lamas (Lama Tsang Tsing, Lama Tsewong Jurmay Kekong, and Lama Gelong Tshering Wangt). The feelings of mutual respect, and a general tone of spiritual reverence among all, were plain to see.

Lama Tsering delivered a simple yet powerful message for the delegation of Tibetan Lamas: "Today, " he said, "many depend on modern technology and enjoy it's benefits. But technology can also be a problem. We can destroy life on our planet. This is a reality. Long ago people did not believe this. They said it was impossible. But now, for those who examine the facts honestly, it is clear that this is a problem, a real problem. We need peace and loving compassion. We need kindness.

"Many times we are confused because of race, color, or religion. But we are all really not so different. We all want to be happy, and not suffer. We are all human beings. On this point there is no debate. In the same way, no one wants to suffer. We all grieve from this, from the suffering in the world...It's important to practice kindness. If so we each will be happier. Without kindness, no matter how rich we are, we will not be happy. With a warm, kind heart, you will be happy even if you are poor. So, if just one person in a family practices kindness, soon the whole family will be more peaceful. Peace can grow from this., -- family to family, village to village, city to city, country to country. Kindness creates peace. Anger and hatred create suffering. We make the problems. We make the unhappiness. We can make kindness and happiness, too. Kindness is a responsibility."

Recover the Use of Sacred Sites

Toward the end of our time in the Yucatan, the Mayaon Council and Mayan Daykeeper Hunbatz Men released a statement calling for the recovery of sacred sites around the world: "The Kal'Tun sacred calendar has completed its cycle," the statement said. "The participation of all Solar Brothers and Sisters, and that of the sacred Lamas of Tibet, was instrumental in the fulfillment of the vision given over 520 years ago by the Solar Grandmother, X'Nuuk'in. The Sacred Mayan Centers have been activated and the Mayaon Maya Council was pleased by the Solar Initiation work. What all participants felt during this event was evident in their faces.

A spokesperson for the Mayaon Mayan council said his group works to preserve and recover many of the things lost over the centuries: "When the Europeans arrived they were astonished at the knowledge the Maya had, and the general harmony we lived in with our environment and surroundings, even though we were at a high state of development in our mathematics, literature, art, agriculture, architecture, astronomy, social customs, and spiritual practices. The missionaries destroyed the records of this knowledge. And Modern society has destroyed many of the values that give birth to all of this. Now the loss of these values and teachings is affecting life all around us...After a few days with you (pilgrims), we are being helped to remember that all life is not material, but also spiritual. Help us to support the struggle to return these centers to people so they can be used again for ceremony. We need help with this."

Author Alberto Ruz Buenfil, who participated in the ceremonies and also spoke at a related conference, observed "For 2,000 years we have systematically consumed and destroyed the Earth. The bureaucracies and the armies have been the high priests. Now it is time for a spiritual revolt against the clock and the consumption ethic. It is time to begin to relate to nature, and to all the people of the world, with respect...We have come here on this pilgrimage to reawaken our relationship with the Earth, to begin again to see ourselves as equals, to recover our personal power and learn how to share it."

His remarks were amplified by comments from Mayan Daykeeper Hunbatz Men: "The waves of awakening and change have begun to roll. Nothing can stop it now. This is a movement to reclaim the great ceremonial centers of the world. To rescue them from museums and tourists, and to return them to the uses for which they were intended.

"The Mayan ceremonial centers are now activated," he said, "and they will continue to emit solar vibrations to other centers around the world to activate them so that they might be used in the ways they were designed. It is time, now, to live out our true solar destinies in good relation with the whole circle of life."

==================================

In 1475, seventeen years before Christopher Columbus made his first journey to the "New World," the Supreme Maya Priestly Council assembled to reveal that darkness would soon be failing upon the Mayan people and that two calendar cycles would have to pass before the Mayan people would once again emerge into the light. Considering the devastation suffered by the Maya at the hands of the Spanish Conquistadors, the prediction of darkness was amazingly accurate.

According to Mayan calendar keeper, Hunbatz Men, the Spring Equinox (March 21) Of 1995 marked the end of that period of darkness, since 520 years have now passed (each Mayan calendar cycle is 260 years). To mark the event, Hunbatz Men led a solar initiation on this date at Chichen ltz , one of the largest and most frequently visited ruins in the Yucatan Peninsula.

This initiation offered a genuine spiritual experience for the tens of thousands who attended, most of whom were Mayan. The day was filled with wonder: Lamas from Tibet and leaders of the Supreme Mayan Council bestowed blessings upon attendees; Mayan music and dance was performed on stage; and the incredible architecture of Chichen ltz  was available for all to view.

The ceremony came to a climax late in the afternoon when a shadow image of the serpent appeared on the Pyramid of Kukulcan. This image appears bi-annually at Chichen Itz  and is a testament to the architectural and astronomical talents of Mayan civilization. At the Equinox, the sun hits in such a way that a shadow forms on one of the pyramid's edges in the shape of a serpent's body. This shadow snake con- nects with a statue of a serpent's head at base of the pyramid to complete the image of a holy Mayan symbol, representing fer- tility and re-birth. Attendees responded with meditation, chanting, and prayer, and displayed reverence for the 'miracle."

As we reflect on the event, it is hard not to think about the recent birth of a white buffalo in Janesville, Wisconsin. This unique appearance fulfills an ancient Indian prophecy and signifies a new period of hope and renewal for Native American culture. According to the Lakota Sioux, the birth of a female white buffalo promises unity among people and a new respect for the earth. Let's hope both of these prophecies may be fulfilled.
